Hey!

I noticed the tick for "Training Flight" in the ACARS. Does this mean that I can for example fly from Charles De Gaulle to Charles De Gaulle where I fly to some other airports performing different approaches in different weather (Real Life Weather) with a touch and go, and then back to Charles de Gaulle?

I know that for instance KLM on several occasions flies Training Flights with the 747 up along the North Sea, and they have even performed touch and goes at Stavanger Sola with the 744.

What I am wondering is, would it be allowed to fly say from Charles De Gaulle, up to Oslo Gardermoen where I do some ILS Approaches with touch and go then back to Charles de Gaulle in the same flight?

Would definitivley be more fun, flying a 1-2hour flight then perform some approaches there, go to another airport, do some approaches there, and so on, all on VATSIM.

Yep, that is exactly what that feature is for. The only thing is doesn't do is create a PIREP - basically, it allows you to do training flights and get all of the data from those training flights. When you complete the flight, it will create a folder with an excel file that will show data from every "balloon" that ACARS records. You can pretty much do anything you want with it in training mode as it doesn't submit any data to our server.

Hey Steve - I am not that deep in ACARS yet, so maybe that question might be stupid.

When you create an PIREP, you also create that Google-Maps-map. Google Maps and Earth are in some way compatible. So does the ACARS also provide a Google-Earth compatible file so you can "see" your flight? Or is it just that Excel-thing? Else, that'd be a nice addition to ACARS in my opinion (just like having that file stored for every regular flight, too)?

Hi Markus,

Yes, ACARS does create a Google Earth file. Once you file the PIREP, click on the PIREP and scroll down to Air France Virtual Airlines ACARS data. The first section under this category will say ACARS Flight I.D. If you follow this row over, you will see a blue underlined Microsoft Excel and Google Earth link. Click on the Google Earth link and it will download the Google Earth file.
