Hi folks,or should I say "bonjour tout le monde"?
I rejoined AFV a couple of days ago after an absence of several years.I have been simming since FS2 (on the venerable Commodore 64) and have been a member in many VA's in the past.My rejoining AFV has 2 main reasons:
I did a number of extremely enjoyable Air France flights to the Far East recently, and could first hand sample their high
quality service (wines, meals, hotesses, equipment,...).And secondly,I have recently fallen for the Airbus concept, after
having been a Boeing hog for many years. In real life,I do a lot of commercial flying as a passenger, but I also flew as
an amateur VFR ultralight pilot until recently.I plan to revert to flying gliders next year, which I started my fllying career
with as a 16 year old.Why gliders? First, because I failed my second class medical for ultralights due to the placement of
a cardiac stent .This still qualifies me to fly gliders solo though.Secondly, because I believe gliders are the way to go
in amateur flying in the 21th century:no noise,no carbon dioxide,no fuel necessary and with a bit of luck you can be
in the air for hours.Besides it is a group sport where camaraderie and some healthy competition are the norm.
So,hoping to spend many enjoyable hours in the virtual on- and offline skies with you ,I salute you brave fellow pilots!

Welcome to AFVA, Eric! We're glad you chose to spend some of your virtual career here!

Gliders, eh? I've been up a few times myself and I must agree, there is something special about flying around with just the wind noise. Not to mention it doesn't cost nearly as much to fly a glider as it does a prop or jet!

Hey Guys, thanks a lot for the warm welcome!Mr Orloff, you should try gliding yourself. It is not all that hard to do.
And it is so much fun!Mr Shamsudeen,I will indeed make this my final VA.My shopping days (for VA's) are done.
AFV has it all: A good and very own structure,FSAcars, flights all over the world with allmost every type of equipment possible, promotion based on real effort (theoretical exam, checkride) and a very welcoming pilot community. Why should I look any further?
