Is there a manual that can expalin how I can make use of your dispatchers for my flights. I think I understand how to use the ACARS system to record and file my flights, but I am not quite sure how to utilize the dispatchers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Todd,

When you use a real world dispatcher he/she will do all of the flight planning for you. The dispatcher will give you the route, fuel load and the transponder number. All you need to do is set up the departure and arrival airport and also the aircraft you are going to use, then hit the dispatch button. Everything else the dispatcher will do. It is also the same with the automatic dispatcher.

I hope this helps

Ben

Thanks, Ben. This sounds like an automated process (you hit the button). What do the folks I see who are scheduled as dispatecher do? Are they available to work with the pilots online the way RW dispatchers do?

Pilots that are rated as dispatcher do the same job as the automatic system but it is a real person doing it for you. You can talk to the dispatcher aswell when the dispatcher is doing you flight for you.

That's fantastic. Do you use Teamspeak to talk with the dispatcher? How does that work exactly? Please feel free to direct me to a publication or other thread if this is a commonly asked quesiton.

When you are having a flight dispatched there will be a private chat between you and the dispatcher. Yes, teamspeak is used so that dispatchers to talk to one another, but this is when there are big events going on. I been doing dispatch for a while now and never used teamspeak.

When you are not using Teamspeak, how do you chat with the dispatcher. Is that text chat via the ACARS?

When dispatchers chat we use the private chat that is the same as the one used on ACARS. It's is no different to the normal ACARS private chat.
