In former times before the GPS was in use, the aircrafts were equipped with an INS. These systems base on the gravity. Flights crossing the oceans, where no radionavigation is possible, were hard to navigate without INS.
A very good INS system, the CIVA-INS, is available as freeware. It is nice to operate, easy to install and makes the filghts with our historic aircrafts more realistic.

True.. And it is really fun once you get used to it.

I use it on my Concorde flights and find it amusing. You gotta be on your toes but thats where the fun is. Very little margin for error, but highly accurate.
