How are the flights database selected?

I have just flown a leg from LROP to LRSM which appears in the database as a Tarom/Air france codeshare, and the return flight was rejected due to it NOT BEING in the database (http://www.afva.net/pirep.do?id=0x9036). While I don't question the leg's disapproval, it poses a question over how the database is built. In the real world, the flight in question appears as RO632/AF6637/AZ5019 on flightstats.com, so shouldn't it be valid (and in the database)?

A similar thing next flight: flown out from LROP to LCLK, and I have no return flight; however, flightstats says only the outbound leg is codeshared by air france but not the return. In this case, why would AF not codeshare both ways?

Teodor - we link with the real world database and while thereturn flight may indeed be codeshared, it may not operate today - and hence would not be in the database. Yes our database works off the real schedule clear down to the days that a flight operates.

With regards to why would AF not codeshare a return flight - there a number of reasons why and it would take a volume or two to list them all but they all come back to economics for the airline.

... down to the days that a flight operates - I never imagined it was this accurate. However, the flight I mentioned is a daily flight that is codeshared today, july 11, as well - at least on flightstats (i don't know where afva gets the data from, i take it from flightstats). Anyway, if it's not there today I can try again tomorrow as well smile

Its unfortunate but this is why I had to reject the flight. Its not in the database for any of the days, ill keep looking and please you do the same. If you find the flight show up in the database and you dont want to fly it on that particular day, you can always set it up as a flight assignment. For instance KATL-MHTG isnt always available, so what I do is assign myself the flight, then fly it on any day that I please. Avoids the issue of the flight not being in the database. We (pirep reviewers) have to go off what is in the actual AFVA database, not what the real world schedule is, because as you can see there are flights that operate real world but are not codeshared by AFVA
