Fellow Pilots.

Over the last 2 or so weeks, the Operations department has seen an increase in Charter request.

The current policy with regards to Charters are as per NOTAM 28. To briefly outline what is involved is....

You are permitted to request 2 charters in a Twelve (12) month Period.
Maximum number of Legs per charter is 5.
You are permitted to add the 2 charters together giving 10 legs, but you'll not be entitled to have any more charters for 12 months.

I am changing the Policy slightly to better keep track of Charters being issued.

The Requirements will remain the same as in 2 Charters and Max 5 legs per charter. However as of yesterday 1st May 2012 we are starting with a clean sheet, so any charters you may have had up to the 30th April are not included. So as of May 1st every Pilot has there entitlement set back to 2 charters.

When requesting a charter a Help Desk Ticket needs to me made.

I will require the following Information to help decide whether or not to Grant the Charter itself.

1) Proposed date of the Charter
2) Reason for the Charter
3) Aircraft Type used so I can insert that into your draft report (Please note, you can swap the aircraft if you wish, it just gives me something to put in the required field.
4) Routing - Please put the legs of the flight with IATA/ICAO Codes, this helps me to process them quicker so I don't have to go looking.
5) Any further information to help your request.

Please note request that do not include #1 thru #4 of the requirements will not be processed, and will result in me contacting you delaying the request even further.

With Charters, the Pilot will be required to finish the charter before continuing on with regular flights. You can not start a charter and come back to it after you have flown a non charter flight, if you do any remaining Charter legs will be Cancelled so please be aware of this before requesting, if your planning on any group flights.

For those that fly a continuous Logbook like myself, please plan your flights carefully as some of our code share flight do not operate everyday, there maybe an outbound flight but the return leg may not be in the schedules for another day, if you find that this is the case and you can't wait for it to enter the schedules and you have to use your charter entitlement then that is fine of course but it still be counted, so PLEASE take extra care when planning your Schedule.

We are not trying to discourage the use of charters but on a daily basis we have nearly 14,000 flight legs in our schedules so there has to be something for everyone.

If you have any question by all means please contact the Operations department, we are here for you.

Many Thanks

I still have 11 more legs on my charter for Ivao World Tour, does that mean that I cannot fly regular legs unless those remaining charters be flown?

just a couple of questions Gents:
- i'm transferred from less than a month, can i ask 10 legs during the year 2012 as well?
- if i dont ask charters for the first six month, can i ask for the 10 legs in second part of the year?

and...what's happens if i have a charter assigned and some drafts?
Can i fly the drafts before the charter?

Cheers.

Luca you can have 10 legs now but then will have to wait 12 months for anymore (or possibly until May 1st at least)
Yes you can fly those drafts flights first before the charters.

Luca,

As above, you are requested to give me us a date when you wish to start the charter for example you request a charter today to start July 5th. I will proceed to put your charters in your logbook as close as I can to July 5th. Once they are in your Logbook, the Charter Legs are to be flown before any other flight regardless if you have drafts or not. If you fail to fly the charters on the date you requested and proceed to fly other flights the charters will be cancelled and you'll not be able to fly them.

If you have say a 5 leg charter and you completed leg 3 but decided to fly another flight that is NOT part of your charter the remaining 2 legs that you have not completed will be cancelled.

IF any charter legs have been cancelled by us for not following the rules but you fly them anyway, they will be REJECTED as they were not permitted.

Hope that make sense.

Roger

Ok some thoughts on this post after Rob and I were discussing this in ACARS earlier. For those of us with a connected logbook would it be possible for us to request a charter(one leg only) if we find we don't have an onward connection for some reason without this affecting our allocated 2 requests per year? This would be easily checkable by Roger by looking at our logbooks to make sure that it is a valid request due to no outbound flights. My proposal would be that any request would be 1 leg only and any request over 1 leg would be treated as one of your two charters as you only need the one flight if you are stuck. Thoughts......

Not to have a connection out of an airport is, to my knowledge, very rare but in some cases I believe a charter could be granted. I mean we don't want Paul and Rob complaining because they can't get out of an airport biggrin

It happens Salvo, I have one in a couple of days where there is no outward connection and I know this has happened twice to Rob now. I posted as i think it would be unfair for us to lose our 2 charters per year just because we keep a connected logbook wink

The Charter Policy is going to change, when? I haven't a clue at the moment. I have 101 other things to do before that.

I am going to tweak it slightly to allow more flexibility but keeping with in the Original Charter Policy.

I will do a update sometime in the next 6 weeks or so, but it is a low priority compared to other things that are stacking up on my desk.

Just remember its privilege to have charters. If we did not permit charters then there would not be a lot we can do other than break the logbook.
