All,

We have recently had a number of PIREP'S from Pilot's flying into London City Airport either Held or rejected for flying the wrong equipment type.

This is just to clarify that while we like to give you as much freedom as possible when flying with AFVA, At London City Airport we operate a Real World policy due to the nature and uniqueness of this airport.

To qualify for PIREP approval an aircraft should fit into one of the Airport’s Noise Categories and be capable of making an approach at 5.5 degrees or steeper (this compares with 3 degrees at most other airports).

The following list are the ONLY aircraft you are permitted to fly into and out of London City whilst logging an AFVA flight.

Airbus A318
BAE 146/Avro RJ family
BAE 41 Jetstream
ATR 72
Bombardier Q Series/DHC Dash 8
Dornier Do328
Embraer 135
Embraer E170
Embraer E190
Fokker 50
Fokker 70
Saab 340
Saab 2000

Use of ANY other Airframe will lead to a held flight and Probable PIREP rejection.

If you have any questions regarding this rule please feel free to speak to any staff member and they will be sure to advise you.

Duncan, After discussing this with Brian we will allow the ERJ145, ERJ175 and ERJ195. These will be the only exceptions to the main list of RW allowable airframes.
